Eleven cases of aconitine intoxication treated with atropine were presented and following results were obtained.
1. The main clinical manifestations were numbness and tingling pain of extremities, nausea and vomiting, arrhythmia with shock, dizziness, irritability, abdominal pain and salivation.
2. Cardiac arrhythmia such as premature ventricular contraction, ventricular tachycardia, ventricular bigeminy, nodal rhythm and atrial fibrillation were showed.
3. The arrhythmia and also clinical symptoms were effectively treated with atropine administration.
4. These observations suggest that cholinergic influence is one of mechanisms of aconitine-induced arrhythmia.
